Modern day fraud is more than fake insurance brokers and door-to-door scams. Technology has made it easier than ever for people to commit crime. But we do have the power to make a difference.

The more we know, the better we can help

That’s why it’s essential that you make a report, so we can learn as much as we can about fraud and cyber crime and how to reduce it. Less than 20% of people currently report fraud and cyber crime in the UK, but with your help, we can fight back and make it harder for the criminals.

When you report a fraud to us, here’s what we’ll do:

  • 1
Pass information to our intelligence team

We’ll pass your report to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which is run by the police. NFIB collates and analyses intelligence on fraud reports and identifies which lines of enquiries to pursue, if any. Intelligence is then passed onto local police forces, which is their responsibility to review and assess the information provided and determine whether or not to open an investigation.

  • 2
Give you a Crime Reference Number

Your bank or insurance provider might ask for this if they’re trying to recover money or pay out to you.

  • 3
    Keep you updated

Once we know whether or not your case will be investigated, we’ll get in touch to let you know. Sadly, not every case can be investigated but we’re here for you if you need extra support.

Help you get the support you need
